It has been said to be careful of what you dream as it may come true. As I stood on the Capital lawn and watched JFK taking the oath as the next president of the United States, this 18-year-old wondered what the future held as she began a new life as a new wife in a new part of the country.
Today, almost 62 years later, I can look back and say that all my dreams came true -- even some I never dreamed of.
I've been married to the man who is "the man beneath my wings" for 62 years, raised 2 successful daughters, and been a successful writer and entrepreneur.
Way back in 1992, I dreamed of having a successful gift and gift basket business. What started as a small local business has mushroomed into a nationwide gift service. But even before that, I had established grew and sold a statewide newspaper, been a multi-million dollar Realtor, served on the City Council, Planning Commission, and School Board, and written for a number of regional and national publications.
I'm writing this on March 11th, 2022 and I am still dreaming. At 80 years old, my health and mental ability is still good; I have no money worries; and I'm still operating my 30-year-old business. Who knows what the future holds but we are never too old to dream and to jump into the possibilities available to us each day that we wake up. So come with me into the world where dreams are still wings for the soul.
